A poll carried out by Hankook Research on July 12 and 13 on behalf of the Office of the National Assembly Speaker Chung Sye-kyun showed that 75.4 percent of respondents(1,000 respondents aged over 19) supported the constitutional amendment, far outnumbering the opponents with 14.5%.

41.9% of the respondents replied that the constitution needs to be amended to reflect the changed reality after 30 years of the last constitutional revision, 27.9 percent to expand the direct democracy and 19.1 percent to divide or check the presidential power.
