A Nepalese migrant worker working at a machine parts production company in an industrial park in Chungju City, 130 km southeast from Seoul, was found dead on the rooftop of the company's dormitory in the early morning of August 7 that he hung himself with leaving a memo behind.

The memo reads; "Hi, I am writing to say a farewell to you, as I am leaving this world today. I have been suffering from my health problems and insomnia for long, and seeing doctors and medication did not help to improve my conditions. The pains I suffer day after day are unbearable so that I ask your kind understanding why I should have to take this decision. I have been subjected to the stress rendered by the company and asked the change of the workplace to another company without success. Even my wish to return to Nepal for the medical treatment was dashed out. I have 3.2 million won(US$2,834) in my savings account which I wish will be sent to my wife and sister in Nepal."

According to the employment permit system for foreign workers in Korea, migrant workers can move to other workplaces three times for the contract period of three years, but it is only allowed when the boss of the company endorses the request of the migrant worker.
