It seems likely that a tripartite labor-employers-the government meeting will be held with the participation of two trade union centers, namely the Federation of Korean Trade Unions(FKTU) and Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU). President Moon Jae-in asked two union heads of FKTU and KCTU in separate meetings with them at the Blue House on the same day of Jan. 19 to join the social dialogue and made a proposal to postpone the tripartite representatives meeting schedule for Jan. 24 to a new date of Jan. 31.
FKTU in its press release on Jan. 21 said that "the tripartite representatives meeting should be expedited for the good of social dialogue, but the schedule can be put off with KCTU's internal situation taken into account." KCTU in the meanwhile revealed its stance that "we can not confirm the specific date and time, but when the schedule is delayed to enable both national trade union centers to participate in the tripartite meeting, details can be fixed through concrete consultations."
